This anime was released way way way back when I was just a kid... it ended here in the US at about the same time. One the greatest animes of the early 90's and voted the most violent cartoon at the time by a bunch of old prudes.

This anime was released way way way back when I was just a kid... it ended here in the US at about the same time.

I loved this show so much that I taped it every morning at 6 a.m. even when I was up to watch it. I really can't remember how I found out it was on but some how I found out about it and started waking up at 6 a.m. ever Saturday morning.

I wish I could say I didn't have sexual fantasies about the chick on the left with the sword named Daisy but I did. In fact I think that after watching this show and seeing her character I have been attracted to strong tough women with nice boobs and a need to kick ass with a sword.

The story actually runs kind of like an actual Dragon Quest(Warrior) game in that the main character starts in a village has something bad happen to him and then sets off on a long journey to find weapons and armor and defeat the main villain who in this case is the powerful Baramos.

If you want to see this show in English good luck. Only 13 episodes were done in English the rest haven't even been subbed in English. So if you want to see the entire series you either have to learn Japanese or beg one of your Japanese speaking friends to sub it for you. I had a fan subbed copy of every episode but the fan sub was in French. I don't understand French but I watched it anyway.

If anyone knows a way to find an English sub let me know.

The series was cancelled here in the US after 13 episodes. The rumored reason was that Akira Toriyama who created the character designs for both the game and the show was not credited in the US release and he got pissed off.

The English dubs are heavily watered down due to "American" sensibilities. For instance, the scene where Abel gets asked if he would like tickets to a bullfight is actually in Japanese a prostitute asking him if he wants some sex.

Sorry I meant to show this picture instead.

Interesting story about me taping the show. The time I went to visit my cuz in Vegas when Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey was in theaters was right after they cancelled the show. I had it set to record on a blank space on one of my Dragon Warrior tapes but ended up recording some piece of shit political talk show instead. What's worse is that I misjudged the length of the blank spot in the tape and recorded over half of my favorite episode of Dragon Warrior where Daisy trains Abel to be a better sword fighter. I guess at the time I figured since they started the series over and were repeating the shows episodes in order I would just rerecord the series from the beginning and eventually have the entire 13 levels and whatever came next. Instead they ended the show after level 5 or something in the repeats. Bastards! I really wish a company would acquire the US rights and rerelease the series dubbed and subbed in English with no edits for content.

Nice dedication to taping the show :D I haven't seen it but It's interesting how in Japan, animes will have such suggestive themes or dialouge and changed dramatically in US. I lol'd at the prostitute sex changing into a "bullfight". Reminds me of how Dragonball(z) had lots of swearing in OVA.

Well in Japan not all cartoons are for kids. Here in the US everyone thinks cartoons are a kids only media. New CG animated movies are starting to blur the line a little by making kid movies that adults can enjoy but they are still considered family friendly. As a result you get really weird and crappy localizations for adult only animes in other countries. Shin Chan was made into a kids show in Europe and Vietnam even though it is the most vulgar dirty sex driven anime ever to hit TV. I hate US cultural beliefs regarding animation and wish we could get with the rest of the world and start using animation to create truly great stories.

The first time I watched this a friend let me borrow it, he bought a VHS by accident because he that it was DBZ. But it was old an off the ait before I seen it. I did used to get up at 5:30 to watch Mutant League Sports, get a shower while Sailor Moon was on, then watch Dragon Ball. So I can appreciate the dedication.
